NGK vs bosch spark plugs
#11
though I would rec. staying away from the bosch platinum 4's. The gapping isn't right on them for the application, and they are non gappable plugs. My car ran like absolute garbage when I put them in. I switched back to the proper NGK's and it ran like a dream. Same thing happened in my roommates GSR swapped EG.
nothing more than a marketing gimic if you ask me

go with NGK

In case you need another reason to go NGK:
>Only OEM plugs for 5th gens were Denso and NGK.
>NGK are easier to find (in my experience) and, more importantly, NGK is "honda-focused" and in addition to supplying plugs for their road cars they sponsor and/or supply most, if not all, of their racing teams.
>Denso is "toyota-focused" and sponsors/supplies many/most/all of their racing teams.
For that reason alone I would choose the NGKs over Denso even if there was a price difference, which there isn't.

NGK is not honda-focused as you put it. It doesnt take a whole lot to get sponsored at the basic level by NGK, as in free plugs. NGK has the market on about 90% of your off-road powersports oe plug business. NGK has in the US for the last oh 20 years been first and foremost seen as a non-automotive plug maker, its only been the increasing popularity of honda's in the US that has brought about the growing demand for NGK automotive applications.
i can remember 5 or 6 years ago, i'd sell 2 or 3 sets of NGK auto plugs for every 100 non-automotive applications ... now the ratio is closer to even.

whew!
lots of great infomation here. I think I will switch back to NGKs soon as I get a chance. So far I have learned with most of my hondas to stick with oem style stuff as much as possible. the more I tried to use other brands or aftermarket stuff the more often things went bad.

just remember OE makes nothing themselves and just because its an OE part doesnt really mean its the better part ...most of your OEM parts are just reboxed and rebranded versions of something already in the aftermarket
ie... for the longest time ford oem brake pads were wagner ZX series with different labels

Was giving another reason, not related to the performance/function of the product itself, to buy NGK over other brands, Denso in particular.
edit: in hindsight it was stupid, I wasted my time and yours. I shouldn't go on forums when I'm sleep-deprived h:

I just wanted to stick up for Bosch alittle. I ran the platinums in my previous 92 1.5L for 376,000 miles. I had to retire the car due to rust. The motor ran perfect with these plugs.
I am using the platinums in my wifes 00 CR-V-fine, my 93 Civic-fine, my sons 88 Civic-fine, my daughters 90 Integra-fine and all three of my 80's BMWs-fine.

Double iridium
Hey guys,
i see alot of people saying they tried the Bosch platinum spark plugs in their Honda but has anyone tried the double iridium? I have a 2010 Acura MDX with 220k on it and was thinking about trying them. Thanks
