Default 00 SI Vortech SC Reliability?

hey everybody...newbie to chargers and turbos here....any1 got the vortech charger w/ cooler installed? jus wonderin what the driving sensation is like vs stock...also any maintenance issues/precautions with runnin a sc, and the vortech 1 specifically? any other info a newbie should know about scs? also i was wondering, the vortech puts out 270+ hp at the crank, correct? what's the 0-60 and 1/4 times? any replies would be appreciated

i say do it, It in the SI 99-00 Vortech combo, remeber its a turbo on a stick, not a SC

vortech is a much, much better sc than jackson racing... so if thats the route, go for it

my friend put a vortech on his si...
other stuff he had: cams/gears, header, apex'i n1 exhaust, fuel rail/pressure reg/maybe injectors, pulleys

he successfully blew his head gasket on his first run....

something you might want to consider while the hood is up :thumbsup:

He did somethin wrong then...
Throttle8000, Max, which 95% of you dont' remember, was a former Moderator of this forum, and a former frequenter of the board in general.

He has a vortec on his 99 Si, it was sick! That think was nice, and it had that lovely blow off valve that made me horny when it blew.


Its a nice SC/thingy but for the money if you want more more more power, go with a turbo. But I see you want reliablilty, so, uh, whever everyone else says

saw a kid at the track w/ that setup...ran 13.3 on slicks.

thanks for the replies; yes i do want reliability and that's why i want to go the sc route and not turbo....

How is a sc anymore reliable than a turbo?
