Default Bad Oil Leak!!!

Ok here is my problem. I just took my car to get the oil changed. They told me that they couldnt change it because there is a very bad oil leak they said it is coming from the back of the motor and where the motor and trans meet. Are there any common spot for oil leaks? or any ideas? it is a 94 honda civic dx 1.5L please help me!!

im guessing it is coming from the "rear main seal"(this may not be the correct terminology.....but on a "v" style motor this is what its called) of the motor

if so get fixed ASAP...the shop couldnt tell you for sure where the leak was coming from?

That sounds like a rear main seal leak. Unless it's pissing out oil when the engine is running then you shouldn't be too worried if you catch it early enough. They basically have to dismount the tranny from the engine and replace that 13 dollar seal. That could easily cost you 500 bucks for labor. If you could, just replace your whole engine with a D16Z6 for the same, if not less price.

Man I love the way you put that. " Ohh just dismount the Tranny and replace the $13 seal" no big deal! " Just $500 labor lol

With a '94 Civic DX, the manual tranny could probably be pulled out in less than two hours using floor jacks and some knowledge. If you know what you're doing and have access to a lift, you really don't want to know how quick it is.

Oh I know how quick it is, plus you don't even need a tranny jack if you have any sort of strength. The trickiest part would be lining up the dowel pins to the engine block during re-installation.
