what to do with a new del sol...?
I just bought a 95 Si for 6k - it's white, has no mods, is frighteningly well-maintained and HAS NO POWER!
ahem...you guys seem to be really into your sols and the enthusiasm is contagious...here are a couple of questions i had after doing some research in the archives...any advice would be awesome-i'm ready to trasform this little gem...
- basic mods: i figured i'd put an AEM cold air intake first off, or maybe just a cheaper CAI that i can dig up on ebay...what would you guys recommend? also any specific advice on exhaust and headers...
- exterior: i...want...angrysol's...blue...paint job...must haaave....
how much should i expect to pay for a really well-done paint job?
- security: should i get an alarm...or comprehensive insurance?
- motor swap: what'd'you think about sticking a B18 where the D16 used to be...assuming i sell/trade-in the old motor how much should i expect to pay for everything w/install (at a reputable mechanic of course)
hope that wasn't overkill, i'm just gettin excited at the prospect of putting some juice in this car...any advice would be awesome (does not have to relate to above questions)
thanks guys

congrats on ur new purchase.
hope ur having fun with it
i would do performance mods first personally, as i did exterior mods first and now i severely regret having a nice looking car that is slow as molasses
as for security, why not get full coverage and an alarm? u can never be too careful

Many people will argue, but I see an intake as a filter on a pipe. With the minimal gains you get from it, you might as well get a cheap one. I'd start with suspension. Better weight transfer, handling, looks, faster cornering. Hell, I can beat most of my friends with "big displacement" on a raod with ANY curves, just because of my handling. Well, now that I have blown shocks, they're catching up. lol Anyway, think about getting a spare head and porting it, or a junkyard turbo setup. Cheap mods that give some nice results.

I would go with a suspension upgrade, a cat back exaust system and cheap turbo kit with a decent fuel management system. With this setup you should be able to whoop most cars on the road for around $2000-2500.

first mod should be Alarm.... then 2nd should be SOUND....
whats wrong with stock looking del sol.. lol.. i'm just being cheap
well do like me, invest in a sound system, if u plan to keep the del sol long, then get a kit or engine mods. sound systems can be taking out and used with other vehicles.....
i say short ram aem, dc sports s/s header, exhaust, pulley.... the easy cheap stuff....... then if u need power...... NOSSSSSSSSSSSSS
