Default car shakes(vibration)??

Hi
Iam not exactly what to call this.. but my car (2000 honda civic base model) shakes at stop light. the car doesnt shake but you can feel the dashboad the steering vibrate. Doenst bug me too much, but its abnormal. Also i noticed that (sometimes) when i come back from work and start the car and put it in drive, without accelerating, my car jsut shakes and barely moves. I am not sure about idling rpm cuz the car doesnt come with a rpm reader. I changed the spark plugs, the wires looks good, and the checked the dist cap and it also looks good. right now it has 78000 miles. I know its hard to find solution for this, BUt what do you guys think i should do?

Cant really tell without seeing, hearing or feeling it. It could be a loose plug wire, timing, or a bad O2 sensor.

my friend had that same prob. your idling at about 5-600 rpms. if you raise your rpms to about 750-800 rpms itlll make it go away. do me a favor when your car is at normal temp and its shaking rev it alil and see if it goes away if it does then your solved your problem

Is it a manual or auto? How do you know it's abnormal? Did it just start doing this or has it always done it?

first of thanks for the replies.
its auto, and i know its abnormal cuz it didnt used to do it before, and "shaking" doesnt always happen when iam at a stop light.
Iam kinda leaning towards rpm adjustment because, today the waether was in 60's , and since the car usually revs a little high during cool temps, i didnt have much "shaking."
HOw do u change the rpm?

Honestly, I think it might be normal. Auto's shake when in gear but not moving. When the car is not moving it drags on the engine, slowing the rpm's down enough that you can feel each piston firing, causing the engine to vibrate more violently.

It does this mainly when the car is warmed up (the idle drops as the car warms up) and when the AC is on (the ac pump drags on the engine, also slowing the rpms down).

Throw it in neutral next time it vibrates at a stop. If that stops it then it is jsut normal with an automatic.

I also noticed that its often when the car is warmed up, i guess the car just lost power(since its getting old) to keep it self at the right rpm....
What DO you guys think of this http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/8426/
its an rpm reader and has buch of cool things. Does my civic have a ODB II connecter?

most likely normal if it was running better when cooler out mines the same way but its a stick. if it stutters when you accelerate then id check your plugs and all the ignition system
