Default Weird noise from tranny

I need some help to figure out the problem. When the car is on and in neutral there is this weird noise coming from the tranny. It sounds like something is rubbing against something. Then when I press the clutch in the noise is gone. Can anyone help me out with this?
Thanx

could be bearings inside your transmission

Hmm my friend also said throwout bearing... Shit I hope thats it. Its like when I start going the noise intensifies up to a certain point and then you can't really hear it anymore... If it was the tranny wouldn't it keep making the noise even when the clutch is pressed??

if your still rolling it would probably keep makeing the noise. it's really hard to say what it is without hearing it for ourselves or better yet taking off and maybe apart.

Well I was thinking whether or not I should pull the tranny off, but now i know i have to. Could it be the clutch? It does feel really weird, not like any other clutch I've had...

I doubt it's the clutch it's self.

mine sounded like marbles, it was the bearings.. but that f*cker ran 40k miles on a bad trany, the only reason it crapped out was because jiffy lube put too much oil in it and blew the seals

Had the same problem, it was a tranny bearing - just one... even though it was making a noise in all gears (Unless the clutch was depressed). Replaced the one bearing and she was good to go.
