Default Rust Spots

I have three tiny rust spots that i have attempted to stop by scraping the rust out and coating that bish with clear nailpolish and then honda touch up. But as expected the rust keeps on coming through, any ideas on how to stop this, body shop, different touch up combo. The spots are about the size of a dime in three different areas of the car, the last thing i want to do is have it spread so i am trying to have something done to these spots before the chicago 'extra salty' winter comes. Thanks:thumbup:

Try some rust inhibitor...what you'll want to do is sand down those spots, apply the inhibitor, and then repaint. The inhibitor will cause a reaction with the rust and turn it into primer. The problem, of course, is using touch-up paint will be very noticeable if you sand too much. So you may want to only sand a tiny bit and see how you like the results, or talk to an auto body place to see how much it'll be to paint over the spots when you're done.

No problem...if it's in a place where you can reach the other side of the panel that has the rust problem, make sure that the rust isn't going all the way through. If it is, you'll definitely want to coat both sides if possible.

I'm using some rust inhibitor on a '67 Bug I'm working on, and found it to be really useful to apply it a couple times...it stops the rust and will leave a solid paintable layer.

There's some really awesome stuff called POR-15, but you can only get it online (I think), and it's spendy. But, since you only have a couple spots, I wouldn't bother ordering it (unless you have other project cars or something). I got my stuff at the local auto parts store...it shouldn't be more than $10 or so. It's pretty common stuff, so you shouldn't have problems finding it. Make sure you have a small paintbrush, too.

Oh, a side note I just remembered...

Use fairly heavy coats, because after it dries it's sandable...so you can smooth it out to paint.
