Default DIY distributor cap and rotor

hey guys, sorry for posting this here, but the DIY forum doesn't seem to be working.

I am planning on changing the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires on my 99 Civic EX this weekend and I wanted some advice. Changing the cap and rotor seems simple enough, but I was hoping some of you could either give me a DIY that you have or just some advice on things to not mess up. Like if there are some things that I should make sure not to do or not forget to do.

Any and all help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Unplug your plug wres from cap and remember where they go. Take the 3 screws off that hold on the cap. The rotor has a "set screw" that fixes it to the shaft of the dizzy. On my b series dizzy there was only one spot i could get to that "set screw" with the dizzy still installed. Yo uhave to crank the motor until it is positioned in the correct spot to where you can get to it with a screw driver. Mine was a bish to get out for some reason. You have to apply alot of pressure to the end of the screw driver so you dont strip the screw. Once you have the rotor off install the new one. It can only go on one way so its hard to mess up here. Make sure the set screw is tight. Install the new cap with the 3 screws and install your wires and your set.

Thanks for the help.

Do I need to unplug the battery at all? I for some reason remember reading it somewhere.

since you'll be handling parts designed to carry current, it's a good idea to disconnect the negative battery cable from the terminal.
