Default Trouble Code 9? (cyp)

I'm getting trouble code 9 that deals with the Cylinder Position Sensor.

I've had my VAFC2 Stolen... unplugged from the remaining 1/2 of the vafc2 harness.

My car wasn't running right at all it felt like it was going to die, vtec did not function and my car wouldn't move anywhere out of 2,500-4,500 RPM.

I bought a new VAFC2 and plugged it in and my car ran fine, but there was a CEL for trouble code 9, cylinder position sensor, and I've ignored it thinking it was flawed signal and it would clear up and about 2 1/2 weeks later i was driving fast on the freeway and my car starting making sounds like goouhgggg goughhhhhhhhhh... kinda like if bogging sound and then I was getting like popping sounds like mean misfiring and the car wouldn't accelerate and it just died on me... luckily I rolled down the nearest exit and parked, my car wouldn't start back up.

Do you think replacing the Cylinder Position Sensor would allow the car to start up? I'm not familiar with the reliability of the CYP or what the symptoms are if has failed. I'm wondering if me driving home after the vafc2 was stolen just damaged the sensor or w/e.

usually a failed crank position sensor will result in very poor drivability and dying like you have said. I would look into the wiring for it. if that checks out good replace it

You'll need a whole new distributor

I want to know if that sensor going out is enough of a reason my car won't start up.
