How to make my tail lights darker?

Here is a pic of mine with the directional on. Smoked lower clear portion of my lights. I have passed 2 inspections now with this, Light is clearly visible thru the tintspray

I think this depends a lot on your state. You could argue that your lights do not violate motor vehicle code. In most states, it just requires that some portion of the lens is red, that the brakes light up red, that the turn signals light up red or amber, and that the reverse lights are clear. There is also usually some distance and viewing angle requirements.

True. I think for Cali, the light has to be visible within 50ft in broad daylight (where it's usually more difficult to see a taillight light up).

the easies way is window tint just do it nicely with no bubbles the ligh is perfectly visable plus when inspection comes if thats not good enough rip it of pass it go home and put new tint on...takes like half an hour

just look at the first diy. its has good detail. and DAMN i didnt know that having black taillights becouse automatically your fault. that sucks man!!!!!
