Default broken driver side power door lock on 96 civic

I just bought a 96 civic lx for a good price but some things are wrong. The driver side power door lock doesnt work but the other 3 do. When I hit the power switch it appears as if it is trying to pull down the lock but it doesnt move. Also, I cannot push it down by hand but it will go down when using the key. Does anyone know what the problem could be and if they do is it something a lay person (myself) can fix? Thanks for any feedback. Asilo

It is possible that this is related to a loose bolt or nut or possibly some kind of binding in the linkage. To investigate this one, you would need to remove the screw hidden behind the door handle and the one in the arm rest. Next carefully pull the door panel up from the bottom. Be careful they are just plastic clips and normally re-usable but can be easily broken but can usually be easily replaced. Once you get the panel off, carefully peel the inner plastic sheet away from the door so you can investigate the linkage and check for any loose bolts or nuts which could result in the linkage being out of place and create a binding situation. Hopefully nothing is broken.

NO. It is not broken.

It is a feature so you cant lock your keys in the car. This way, in order to lock the car, you have to use the key from outside the vehicle to lock it. Or, if you pull the handle, and then press the lock button, it will lock all four.
