Help What's The Average Gas Mileage Supposed To Be For My 95 V-tec
#31
I THINK someone is smoking the white hard shyt when they say they get 50 mpg on a d15 or a d16
it is not possible, unless your going down hill with the wind behind you and lucky as hell too,
these cars were designed for optimal fuel consumption @ 55 mph
for every 5 mph over that you go you lose between 8-10% fuel economy
so from 55 mph to 85 mph you 24% of your original foel economy
if a 1995 honda gets 32-35 mph average and you lose 24-30 % your new average is now 22.6 mpg , and this is just regular driving hot rodding and hard stop and go,s make it even worse
now if there is a rough idle that could be a few other things , vacume line possible head gasket, timing, cat plugged stuck injector bad tune, ect
keep your car tuned, poor fuel economy is a sigh that something is not working right and could possible cause more damage,

I didn't believe it myself, and re-calculated the MPG about 4 times (the same way I always do). This trip was a long cross country trek from MI to AZ. It was a cool enough night that I didn't need A/C on and I was only going about 55-60 mph because I was following our moving trailor. I was in 5th gear the entire time (other than the gas stop). For the rest of the trip I was using A/C, and we picked the pace up a bit. I averaged about 40-44 MPG for the rest. I don't know how it happened, but it did.

dude I am completely serious when I say I averaged 42-44mpg. My d16y7 did this for 2 years straight. It wasn't any calculation error or random crazy goodness... it was every single freeway tank.
The wheels were rota c8's, 15". 195/50/15 tires. dx trans probably helped out a lot. It was on trips to las vegas. downthere I would get 44mpg because it's about a 2400ft elevation drop, on the way back about 40mpg because you gotta climb back up that shit

I drive pizza's for a living with my VX hatch. I just put in a used D15Z1 with 124k. I've been driving the piss out if it, stop light to stop light to stop sign, all day long. I'm getting 40mpg. I also once got a tank to get 55mpg and that same 5000 mile trip I averaged in the mid 40's for the whole trip. The VX is rated at 55mpg highway but it's hard to achieve.
Something is missing though,

Something is definitely a miss with your ride. I'm on about 240 miles right now, and have just under half tank left...
When you put gas in it, tell us how many gallons you put in. That'll give us an idea to what your mileage is, and if you do have a problem.
