New guy checking in
Hey great site, great information and seems to be really nice people too.
I just recently bought a 1999 Civic LX Sedan. Needed a commuter car with four doors, decent power and gas mileage. So I bought the Civic.
I had a 97 2 Door DX up until then.
Went thru the "Rice stage" as my buds call it. Big wheels, clear lights, neon, coffee can. All show and no go.
Now it's time for something different. This car will be all go, and no show.....OK maybe a little show but not much beyond a nice set of Graphite 15 or 16 inch rims and maybe a 1.5 to 1.8 inch drop.
Questions:
1. What exhaust produces a good increase in power but not a huge increase in sound?
2. Intake - same thing is there an intake that is terribly loud?
3. Ignition - I am considering purchasing an MSD ignition for this car, is this an good upgrade? I know putting it on my small block powered Landcruiser made a big difference. Can I expect a similar increase percentage wise?
Thanks everyone!

A good intake would either be AEM CAI or Injen's CAI. In terms of exhaust, I think it was the A'pex-i WS exhaust that was one of the quietest out there. You could check out www.groupbuycenter.com for good prices on these items.
Also, have you thought of a swap of FI for your "all go" route?

Ive seen about 3 AEM CAIs crack.. i dont trust them.. i say injen or the OG iceman.. whatever intake you get if you decide coldair.. make sure its 2 piece so you can slap the filter on the shortstack for those rainy days

if you *really* want to go fast, i can only suggest 2 things: swap and/or nitrous. after getting all the bolt ons on my accord, it sounded fast, but was only .5s faster in the 1/4mi.
btw stock iginition is good up to atleast 250hp, unless u go f/i or nitrous
