Default Full Exhaust= more problems

Does anyone know how you can put a full exhaust on a civic lx without fucking it up? I have full exhaust, intake, header,am cat, and cat-back exhaust. I am having problems with the o2 sensors tripping my check engine light on, so i cant pass emissions! The place that i had it done at said i would have NO problems with my emissions. But now they are saying that they think the only way to fix it is to go back to the stock header and cat. Does anyone have any ideas? If i go back to stock header and cat, only keeping the cat-back greddy, will i just have to eat the 400$ i spent on the dc sport headers and the cat? Should I have to pay for something that wont be on my car because of their mistake, because they assured me it would be fine????? any advice would be great. (installed the full exhaust maybe 4 months ago)

i dont have the stock exhaust to put it back on, is there any other way around it. I think that its the placement of the o2 sensors, anyone know of a better or different placement to put them to have them read clearly? I am a single mom and i dont have the know-how or the funds to have a shop swap them out like that even if i did have the stock stuff

Hmmm. I was going to have the same question. I have exhaust going through the stock CAT, and was going to put headers and high flow CAT on the car. I came to this forum just to avoid going through what you're going through. I'm a month away from a smog. The car is getting a new engine, and was just gonna throw it all on. I can't, knowing you're going through this. But I think extensioncordy is right. Switch back. Since you don't have your stock exhaust, I'd hit Craig's list. Anybody selling Civic parts might be down to let you borrow some stock pipes laying around, just to get you to pass. Smog is what.... Every OTHER year? Don't throw the $400 in the trash. But I hope some one knows how to get around it.

Hmm, I got Injen CAI, 4-2-1 DC, and full OBX exhaust and have not had a problem... and I'm in Seattle (Redmond actually) just like it says you are... Might try the one in Redmond where I do mine... my car passes with flying colors there.

what year is your civic? if its OBD1(92-95) then there is only one O2 sensor that should be screwed into the bung on the header and thats it. if you have an OBD2(96 and up) car then there would be one sensor in the header and one after the cat. you wont pass emissions without your O2 sensor/s and you probebly have a CEL on.

What kind of car do you have? mine is a lx so it might be a different set-up. What is the name of the shop you are talking about?

Its a 98. and your right its an OBD11. I have both of the o2 sensors still. Right after i had it done (full exhaust) they put both of the o2 sensors in front of the cat. I took it back because my cel was on and the o2 codes were coming up. Realizing they had put both the sensors in front of the cat i had them fix it, or so i thought. now there is one right before the cat and one right after and they cut the wires to extend them. Do you think it could be the wires are too close? or that the wires were cut to be extended? I have exhausted myself with possibilities. Is it because there is no o2 sensor in the header, instead its right in front of the cat?

are the 2 O2 sensors the same type? Maybe they are in the wrong positions and you need to trade them front to back?
