Default Should I expect engineering flaws in 2006 Civic (first year of this generation)?

Hi all,

I'm considering buying a 2006 Civic sedan EX manual tranny but one of my friends has raised the concern that this is the first year of this generation of the Civic and that there will probably be lots of annoying and somewhat-expensive engineering flaws in it. He has a 2002 Accord (last year of its generation) and read that the 1998 Accords (first year of that generation) had lots of engineering flaws. He recommends I wait a model-year or two. What has been all of your experience on first-year Civics? What do you all recommend? Thanks!

i would say that it's a posibility but with honda i wouldn't expect to see half the problems that other companys have when they release a new product.

That's like predicting when the next big earthquake will hit or what town will Wilma hit.

Being a Honda, I would expect it to be as solid as any other. And on the off chance something is wrong, they have callbacks, and warantees. I wouldn't worry - just enjoy.

I've got a 96 civic, the first year of my generation. I know its old, but I dont have many problems with it. The later years in my gen have nicer looking headlights with clear corners, but thats about the only difference. I'd think its fine.

I bought a '92 brand new and that was a major change for the Honda civic. I've had no problems other than normal wear/tear/maintenance at 244,000 miles.
