Hehe, I used to have my white faced gauges UNDER my indiglo's, took those out, then put in revereses. I don't know if I want to go get yet another set of gauges (total up to 4 sets?). It's a cute remnder for myself of what it used to be, but at the same time, when thieves see that, they know what's up...

I'll check again when I get to my car, but I honestly forgot if it were blue or black. And I really don't mind if they were blue, as long as the faces themselves don't have that cheesy glossy cheap plastic look to it.... Most of the reverse indiglo's I've seen have the middle cirlce light up too :eh:

Hmm, I hope you're not going to these stores asking for bulb condoms... but I'll check some stores here for you since I need to stop by anyway.

 

all this bulb condom talk.. aren't the bulbs just the tiny little 168 bulbs (like our license plate bulbs) that we can replace? my friend has 168 bulbs behind his gauges in his altima and he just replaced them w/ 168 blue bulbs and said it looks nice

how did you make the gear position indicator light not to light up. Mine was auto converted to manual but eventhough I took out the gear position indicator bulbs out, it still sort of shine when light is switched on. Tried to covered it from behind with masking tape but it seems that the light travel thru the plastic material.

BTW, what colour of bulb again u used to give that kind of effect? My cluster is white FYI.

no i didnt go to the store and ask for bulb condoms, i just looked around in the store for them. if you can find a place with them, that would be great, if not maybe i will try the 168 bulbs. thanx

 

No, they are not the same bulbs as the push in type license plate and side marker size (at least for my gen Civic). They are actually quite smaller.

As for the gear selection, you can do two things, there should be leads from where the auto-shifter was, find the wires that lead to the selector and either cut them or ground them... I forgot how my friend did it, but I could ask. If worst comes to worse, depending on what aftermarket gauge face overlays you have, you can try maybe electrical tape over the numbers, light will not shine through that! Then cover with indiglo's or white face. Good luck on that.

 

I think that the size of the bulb in the gauge cluster is the same size as the one that lights up your ashtray. Anyone that has installed a double din audio console should know what I'm talking about. Same size, with the blue "condom" as well. :thumbup:
