Default New to Honda, Idle problems already!!

So i bought a 92 hatchback. It has alot of stuff done to it and i got a great deal on it. To fill you all in leme list some things I know about.

Full Tokico Suspension, Camber Kit and everything
15" Brozen Rota wheels
b16 motor
lsd b16 tranny
underdrive pulley
intake
exhaust
brand new paint, and headlights
new control arms
short shift kit

and some other stuff i dont know about

Anyway, so the only problem i have had with it so far is the idle. The guy told me he put a p28 in it and it solved this problem, which doesnt make any sense bc it uses a p30 since its a b16. It surges when it idles, and jumps from 1k to 2k. I went ahead and bought a virigin ecu for a b16 and am hoping this will solve my problem. Does this sound like the ecu or somethign else? Possibly a vaccum leak or the air intake control valve? What do you guys think?? Im new to honda. Before i had a gti and a mustang gt, so this is all new to me. Thanks!

does it fluctuate? if so...does it go away when the car is at operating temp? if so...it is the Fast Idle Thermal Valve.

The FITV is for when the car is cold. The IACV (Idle Air control valve) controls idle when it is at operating temp. Located on the throttle body near the firewall, it's held on by 2 12mm bolts. Remove the IACV from the TB and clean out the screen to allow it to bypass the throttle valve with air more easily. You can clean with WD-40 or other penetrant. You can leave the coolant hoses connected during this whole time.

so even after it's run for like 10-20 minutes, it still idles that way? try checking your plugs. the poots on the wires may have leaked, causeing a misfire... also happened in my car.

hehehe, i accidentally types poots anyway, my plug boots, right where they slide into the top of the head (through the valve cover), one had cracked. water got in when i cleaned the engine.... and bam.... nasty idle. check the spark, too, see if a cylinder is maybe not getting spark.

It could be a possibility of a few things.

Check the FITV and see if the plunger backed all the way out.

Check the IACV and clean it if it is dirty.

Check the TPS and see if it has the correct voltage.

Check your vaccuum lines and make sure there is no leak.

Is the fluctation fast or slow? Are you throwing any CELs in the process?
