Default 92-95 civic EX gauge cluster install...do you need to rewire the temperature gauge?

i have 2 EX gauge clusters for a 92-95 civic EG6. one USDM, and one JDM. problem is, i hook them up in my CX civic, and the temp. gauge does not readout on either cluster. all other gauges work fine (tach, speedo, fuel). to my understanding, you can plug any EX gauge with the tachometer into any 92-95 civic, and it will work. Do i have 2 clusters that both have bad temp. gauges (seems unlikely)?

p.s. the stock DX gauge works fine, just no tach. :crazyr:

u have a vx one for sale, you shouldn't have too wire it in. It might be ur sending unit. Does ur dX one work?

yep. DX gauge works fine in both cars (one CX, one VX). both gauges (one i just purchased) and the JDM, don't read temp.

just searched using TEMP. as the key word. All eg6 gauges should plug and play. it just seems weak that i would have 2 that both have non working temp readouts.

oh, well. any ideas on how to fix this internally?

open up the gauge and take out the temp/fuel gauge, and look at the winding, see if they are broken.

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Gauge
Gauge Test
1. Check the No. 15 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/
relay box before testing.
2. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF, then disconnect
the YEL/GRN wire from the ECT gauge sending
unit and ground it with a jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
Check that the pointer of the ECT gauge starts moving
toward the "H" mark.
CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch OFF before the
pointer reaches "H" on the gauge dial. Failure to do
so may damage the gauge.
If the pointer of the gauge does not move at all,
check for an open in the YEL or YEL/GRN wire.
If the wires are OK, replace the ECT gauge.
If the ECT gauge works, test the ECT sending
unit.
ECT Sending Unit Test
1. Disconnect the YEL/GRN wire from the ECT sending
unit.
2. With the engine cold, use an ohmmeter to measure
resistance between the positive terminal and the
engine (ground).
3. Check the temperature of the coolant.
4. Run the engine and measure the change in resistance
with the engine at operating temperature (the
radiator fan comes on).
5. If the obtained readings are substantially different
from the specifications, replace the ECT
sending unit.
specs
133 F (engine cold) 142 ohms
185-212 f 49 - 32 ohms

I hope this helps

i have a problem with my gas gauge. i did check the back for broken wires and one was broken. i sodered to fix the line that was touching the post. there is tension there but nothing more. it reads full all the time. if i move it , it still goes back to full again. question is this....do you know the same thing for the gas gauge? thanks

Default ?

I just got a JDM cluster for my EG6 to, and the two plugs on the out side plug right in but the connections for the green and yellow plugs don't fit the cluster.
