Default Shamelessly ripping open the jack at the toe hook debate

Well, not really shamelessly.

And I am NOT saying this the way do go. I'm merely presenting a piece of data that may make some people think.

The issue is if it is safe to jack up the car at the toe hook so you can put it on jack stands at the reinforced points.

Here's a pic at the 05 San Jose Grand Prix of a touring car team jacking up their 6th gen civic at the rear toe hook:

I do it all the time. h:

I make sure that it has jackstands securely in place before getting underneath, but I haven't had a problem. Take a look at the thickness of the tow hook metal and of the side jacking points. The tow hook is thicker, so why would it be unsafe?

They also have a wing on a FWD civic, so how credible could they be?

I went to the San Jose Grand Prix too. Good times.

Yeah, I didn't get why they did that either. Several FWD cars had rear wings, because, you know, the need MORE understeer.

Anyways, it was good times. The REALLY need to do something about the skinny bumpy track though.

It also states in the Factory service manual that the tow hook is a perfectly acceptable jacking point, so who is to argue?

I also find it funny that the RSX with the A-spec wing and the Golf with no wing were doing the best. h:

Yeah, the track sucked compared to the one down here in Long Beach, but the crashes are always entertaining....

I'm jacking my own thread. Oh well.

I happened to be at turn 5 (?) on Friday when that yellow stock car skidded right into the tires. The crowd loved it. The drifters were ripping through that corner too, with a nice chicane right after it for some tandem drift.

FWD cars still need rear traction. Ever seen BTCC?
