how low should I or can I lower my car??
i have a 4dr 98 civic...just got some 17x8 rims from a private seller?? i didnt kno it was gonna be 8 inches wide but oh wells it still looks nice...anyways the tires says 205/40ZR17...and i wanna lower my car but it looks like if i do lower it its gonna hit the fender cause it looks like 1/4 inch to wide :nervous: ...the wheels are lined up vertically to the fender...do you guys think this would definently rub?? and how many inches should i drop the fronts and rears?? for it too look good and for it not to hit my fender??
thanks

I have 17 x 7.5 rims and i was able to lower it about 1 1/2inches, But most likely the added weight on to your springs/coilovers will make your rear and maybe your front tires bow in a little depending on how low you lower it. But you can always about camber kits and shit to fix the bow in.

A few friends of mine rolled or lipped the fender. Basically the lip was folded down using a rubber mallet and a heat gun. The heat gun (you can also use hair dryer) is used on the paint to heat it up a little before bending the inner edge of the 'lip', this is to help stop the paint from cracking when folding the lip.
If you do it carefully, it will look great, and you can then lower the car to make it look even better.
I will be upgrading my 17"x7" (205/40's tyres) rims to 18"x7.5" (215/35's tyres) later this year. With my current setup I do not need to roll or lip the fender, but with my future 18's, I will definitely need to roll them. Good luck.
