Default Knocking noise from Rear suspension

I keep hearing this noise when I go over any bumps from the rear suspension. They do not have to be big bumps and the sound is not very loud but it is still there, and annoying after awhile. I am lowered about 1.5-2" in the rear and I have the factory shocks (I know their weak, I will be getting Koni's soon). I also have 17" wheels 205/40/17 is the size of the tire. I do not believe that it is any rubbing at all; I do believe that it would sound different in that case. If you could think of any ways of fixing this problem, that would be great.

Thanks

check your bushings in the lower control arms..

if it's not that, then look for anything loose in your rear suspension.. put the ass in the air & start shakin stuff around.. u'll find it!

check the rubber piece b/t the spring and the top hat. it may have slipped out causing the spring to rub/bang against the top hat.

...or you may have stuff rattling in ur trunk :chuckles:

I had the same thing happen to me and there is no cure for this because stock shocks are not of a short travel design, they were specifically designed for the spring it originally came with, the lowering spring you installed in there doesnt match the shocks travel parameters, so its hitting the bumpstops. You should replace the shocks with a short stroke type.

thats not necessarily true, i bought a omni full coil over kit with matched struts and shocks and i got a knocking sound only from the rear. pulled it apart and on the top plate i fabricated out of 2mm high density rubber an insert and it did not help the problem. i have learned to live with it.

I hear good things about tokico rebound adjustables or sustecs. Buying a full coilover set will take all the guesswork out of matching dampening/spring rates etc, dont buy anything cheap, when I first got into Hondas I bought some monroes for the front of my EF and the car handled so sloppily that I took them out the next day and reinstalled the old ones. I can guarantee you that even with a full coilover system there will be alot more tuning involved after you install them.

eonsx311 ...im responding to 94civiclxs problem through exprerience over the same type of modifications, I think that your opinion of my response is irrelevant to his problem bec of of the parts involved. I bought a used set of JIC FLT A2s and the noise was history.

Thanks for all your help guys. On the instructions for the coilovers it does say that to use Tokico Shocks. So I think I will just get those or. possibly call the company to see if this priblem has occured in the past...an then what the best thing is to do about it.

Thanks
