(Forgive The Misspelled Words)
Today started out so nice and bright outside. So i needed to get some things done for the day like getting stamps, going to the store, ect. All of a sudden it starts raining ... and Bad. My fiance tells me to go down 39th street instead of the highway. So I turn down this street and a little ways down this lady in a cavalier stops to turn left, the car in front of me stops..... so bout time i see whats going on, im sliding towards this ossmoblie. All along im hitting my brakes but nothings slowing me down.... hydroplane strikes. To try and avoid hitting this car, i try to turn off into the grass but cant make it in time and i Hit him on his rear right bumper. An which he bumps the lady tying to turn. After the impact i start to see smoke coming from my bent hood. I pop the hood and i see a crushed power steering reservoir spewing fluid everywhere. So all in all the cavalier had 3 scratch marks on it, the ossmoblies trunk was bent up just a little with his bumper pushed into the right tire, and my car has a bent hood, hole in the bumper, bent fender, broken left headlight and corner lens, a bend in the frame at the head light, and a busted power steering resavor. The police come and give me a ticket for following to closely. they asked if i needed a tow truck or if i wanted to try and drive it. i try starting it and it fires up but with no power steering. the old guy i hit had a even older lady in the passenger sit and she wanted to go to the hospital. Everyone else was okay. would anyone know how much it will be to get my car fix again? i'm gonna try to get another reservoir and bend back the fender. what do u guys think a body shop will charge me for the frame work?

 

New hood, bumper, fender, headlight housing and power steering resevoir.

With it all painted and done with, you're looking at around $2000 using the cheap route... prepare to get assraped through the dealer.

 

wow i was hoping for a little less than that cause it didnt look really bad. u think i could just get them bent back into shape or something. or maybe a junkyard??

 

Well the damage looks small, but its on a point that crushed 3 body parts... since the bumper is cracked only a little, you might be able to bond it.

Insurance should give you the repair costs minus your deductible. So that may be enough to repair it.

 

that damage looks like nothimg imo.

fifth gen body parts are cheap in the right places.

the only part that would be expensive is the paint.

 

I forgot to say i only have Liability on my insurance. so this is gonna be out my own pocket. sucks cause i've only had my new headlights for 3 weeks.

 

in my opinion, from the pictures given, the hood doesn't look irreperable.

the fender and headlight are wasted

the bumper doesn't look too bad.

I would only say for sure you are in it for the headlight, driverside fender, and repaint.

The thing thats going to kill you moneywise is the paint.

 

sorry man, that is unfortunate. had a similar thing happen 10 days after i bought my car. at a red light, it turned green, i was following a truck no more than 10 mph and someone cut him off coming out of a gas station. yeah well, my hood ate his exhaust tips. my car went under the ass end of his truck. long story short. i had no broken internals at all, hood replaced, left and right fender replaced, front bumper cover a headlight and grill and that cost me just under $4000 the cheap route. what state are you in? depending on the state you will get a certain # of points on your insurence but luckily its under $4000 for you, after $4000 in damage they consider it a major accident and my damage was estimated at $4600 so i got 4 points on my insurence. make sure you get good estimates and if they were after market parts, show recipts.

 

oh man, didnt even realize you dont have colision. you are gonna feel that one pretty bad but atleast your insurence premium wont go up from the accident, maybe from the ticket.

 

yeah. i live here in indep. missouri so i think i will only get 2 point on my record. i really done care about the paint too much, i'll drive around all primed up if i have too. well i was looken for a carbon fiber hood and stuff any way. LoL its not like im gonna beable to get'em now. i've been calling around for a power steering resavoir but know has one. i went to honda and they said they wouldn't be able to get one untill the 22nd for $58. guess i gonna keep looken.
