What is better Y8 or Z6?

Personally, a Z6 short block with a Y8 head is the ideal setup for the Turbo SOHC community....

Define "good."Powerhouse? No. Compair it to any real performance engine and it has no chance in hell.Doubtful. It's not as powerful as larger SOHC engines, and not as efficient as smaller ones. Once again, it depends on your personal definition of "best." I myself feel the Mazda F2 is a better single cam engine then the D16Z6, and the F2 isn't anything special in itself.No chance, both blacktop and browntop ZC's are far beyond the D16Z6. The browntop was introduced long before the Z6, too.If you want to get down and dirty, neither have any real-world advantages. Two flywheel horsepower, whoop-de-fucking do.

kai, i said possibly because it can make good number when modded the right way.

 

It can perform well for it's design, yeah. It's an overall well-rounded engine, but nothing too special.
