Looking for a few extra horses for my Civic
Hi,
I recently bought a (slightly) used 2004 Civic EX 4 door sedan. It's the first 5 speed I've had in a while and i love the response of the sohc v-tec engine. It's reminded me after years in an underpowered automatic transmission Galant that driving can be fun!
I'd like to add some HP and am considering replacing the Air Filter system w/ a K&N aftermarket product. Anyone have experience w/ them? would you recommend that brand?
K&N also markets a hi-flow filter that fits into the EOM Air filter housing. They claim a 2-4% increase in HP from the filter. Has anyone ever tried one of these out?
Also thinking of replacing the stock exhaust w/ a higher performance replacement, but I want something quiet. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any feedback or advice for a Honda newbie.
Mike

Best advice anyone will tell you is to learn to use the search button.
An aftermarket intake system will give more gains than a oem filter replacement but will also add more noise (suction sound) btw, and there's a lot of exhaust systems that have a nice low tone. Search

Intake, header, and exhaust will give you a few horses up top, but I think you'll still be disappointed with the amount of gain for money spent. I would look at forced induction (SC or turbo). If you keep the boost around 5-7psi you'll get a nice boost in power without constantly breaking stuff.
