30K Service Price for 2001 Civic EX?
I am going to hit 30K very soon on my Civic EX and was wondering what Honda dealerships charge for the service? The Honda dealership where I bought the car wants to charge me $515.00. I compared to what was needed in the owners manual and there were a lot of add ons by the dealership on procedures that were not needed.
What price should I be paying?

Oil change
Tune up (air filter, fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor, wires, plugs, pcv valve)
Transmission flush.
radiator flush.
accessory belts.
How do you they get off charging $515 for that? That's $150 worth of parts and maybe 2 1/2 hours of labor. Shop around.
You don't need any crazy power flushes or anything. In fact, it's silly at 30k miles or on old cars that have been maintained properly/on time. Some dealerships are famous for doing crap like this to inflate their pockets. Some don't. It's hard to find one that you can trust.
Edit: if they're doing a valve adjustment, I can see them charging $515, but you probably don't need it.

Its only an oil change, Tranny flush, Air filter, Tire rotation, Clean and adjust breaks, Brake fluid change, and wiper inserts. We charge 359.00
There is no wires on the 01. Plugs are good for 105k and i don't recommend replacing the PCV unless its bad.

My dealership charges something in the low $400's, IIRC.
At ~$90 an hour labour rate plus "Honda Genuine" parts, it adds up fast. You left out the tire rotation, about a half-hour worth of insepecting stuff, a parking brake adjustment, checking the A/C filter in cars so-equipped, and a few other things I can't remember.
I can't remember if a valve adjustment is in the 30k or 45k. I'm thinking 45k.

$90/hr is way too high for that kind of work. I did it for years. I loved it when easy stuff like that rolled in the shop because I worked for commission for a shop that billed $56/hr. Anyone will use Honda parts if you ask them because they deliver. Even for just a bolt. They'll send a truck out to deliver a bolt.

It cost $95/hr in Ft. Myers where my honda dealership is. that price is just insane. I couldnt imagine being the person to give the customer the bill. It's just not reasonable at all for the average working man.

You dont do a vavle adjustment on the 7th gen civics until about 110k. You have to to do the AC filter, And the wiper inserts are extra. Everyone knows that Dealers charge to much.
