I am actually, it's a great car, it's just so not me. I'm 6'4" 200 lbs, 34 and used to cars with so many more features. I bought it as a fun project, and as that, it has completely met my expectations. I've had a blast with it, it's not costing me a dime (though I've spent a lot of time and $ on replacing everything), and it runs great....

...SO IT'S NO LONGER A CHALLENGE TO ME... That's the only thing working against it.

I'm about to pick up a turbo '90 Laser. I may not sell the civic, but I'm toying with the idea because I don't need 4 cars in my driveway, or insurance on more than 2. There's only 1 of me. The civic is an amazingly reliable spare car. I may sell the Laser after I go through it. I haven't decided yet.

your 34? i think u should take off all the fancy stuff and try to make it as stock as possible, then when u sell it dress and talk really mature. thats going to jack the price up to like 4 g's since no one think you will street race or do stupid burnouts or something LOL.

Even though it isnt stock and upgrades are better than what you started with...it still is a CX to most people. If you want more $$ out of it, find somebody who appreciates what has been done to the car. Otherwise, it is still .... a CX to people looking for a car.

That's true. Everything I've replaced is really considered maintenance. So in that aspect, it's just a CX that shows well with new everything. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy if I asked $2.7-3k for it. Who knows. It's a civic.

DONT BUY A 90 LASER!!!! YOU WILL HAVE BITCH TIME FIXING IT WHEN IT BREAKS!!! This is coming from a guy who had a 90 laser so trust me, mine was non turbo but the same things apply. 1990 is the year before EXSTENSIVE changes were made. Your MUCH better off getting 92-94 but if you must have pop up head lights get the 91. Just beware your not looking at a friendly daily driver when you go DSM, you will be fixing things, and depending on the car and your luck, you could be fixing things quite often. That being said though, there great cars and have alot to offer but really take my word on avoiding the 1990

I'm more than familiar with the reliability of DSMs because I own a '95 GSX. I don't find any DSMs difficult to work on except Galant VR-4's... but those are actually not DSMs, those are JDMs. It's okay to have a turbo DSM as a daily driver as long as you have 2 of them. I'm self-employed so I can't be fired for having car trouble.

I know about the '90's. Bad ECU's, slightly different tranny, god forbid it's AWD (this one's not) with the 23-spline transfer case. '90's were just a little too early of an OBD-I model. If I blow a tranny, any 4g63 transmission will bolt right up.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a 92.5-94 model because of the 7-bolt blocks. If I could have it my way, I'd be getting a mid-early production '92 AWD with a 6-bolt block and 4-bolt rear... but beggars can't be choosers... This thing might cost me next to nothing. It's an impounded car... and I have a friend that owes me a favor sort of thing. :dunno:

Like I said earlier, I'm trying to decide which car I'd sell. I looked at the Laser and it runs & is in really good shape. Good tires, exhaust, turbo, 100% stock. Just needs a driver's side door handle. Everything else is clean and present. All of its power options work. ... but it's got the weirdest thing I've ever seen... 16" steelies with hubcaps. I don't recall ever seeing a 16" steel wheel anywhere. Why? Cheap wheels with expensive tires?

Did you have the 1.8L or the 2.0L?

I had the RS, 2l. I bought mine with a rebuilt motor and some body damage, and it kept busting on me but towards the end i have to admit that it did run quite nicly. Good point about the 6 bolt, been out of that scene so long forgot about that. Here are a few pics of my old Laser, and yea mine had 16 steelies on it, then i picked up some talon wheels for it.

David: Jafro knows more about DSM's then you could ever wish to. :chuckles:

Brake: To stop working by means of mechanical failure, or to stop your car (and the parts associated with such action)
Break: To take time off.
Please stop saying "break" when you mean "brake."

Jafro: I thought all later DSM's had the 7 bolt 4G63's. Did they go back to the 6 bolts after 94?
