Default help! my tach stopped working!

95 Civic EX, OEM guage cluster with tach. used to work fine. i had my engine replaced, now the tach doesn't work. the guy who switched it (hack job apparently) says he doesn't know what's up. i probed the blue tach wire with a multimeter, and the wire resistance fluctuates up and down when i rev the motor, but nothing on the tach. any ideas? i tried engine tech but those guys are cacs :fawk:

maybe he switched tachs on you without knowing when he did the swap all it is to take it out is 3 screws and then put in a broken one.

or could be the VSS plug wire on the tranny. (vehicle speed sensor). May be bad or broken.

Then the speedometer shouldn't work... Plus he wouldn't get varying voltage when revving. Sounds like the tach is shot. Time to hit the junkyard. That or get a super cool 12" tach with 5 inch 100 watt shift light!
