Default What's most likely to be damaged when accelerating fast in a Civic without Vtec?

I had a van that ended up with a broken transmission once because I accelerated too fast, but the van was old anyway, so that could've been why. I just want to preserve my car and help keep it running well, so I wanted to know how fast I can accelerate (RPMs-wise) without it being too stressful on the car and what's most likely to break from doing that? Today, I reached the 5 on the guage and it was loud as heck!

if you think its loud in your car at 5k then i honestly dont know what to say. have you ever ridden in a car with vtec?

Yeah, had a 2000 Accord before this. It was never as loud.

If your looking to keep your car running at optimal officiency, and your driving a manual transmission, shifting at 3k (the three on the tach) is the best bet. It doesnt tax the car by any means and will result in good gas millage and engine longevity. If your going to be doing any kind of spirited driving shifting before the tach changes to red is required to prevent serius engine damage. Most engines however have revlimiters to help prevent damage of this kind. I would avoid driving your car to hard untill you know more assuredly how your engine runs under different situations.

i concur. they've gotta start somewhere. my suggestion, pick up a haynes or helms. and read the maintenance sections. u don't have to follow them to the T but it will atleast start to give you an idea of the things you can start doing occasionally to keep the car in tip top shape.

and as stated above, just don't let the rpms gte to high everytime your driving. honda's last a LONG ass time when taken car of, so enjoy her

Eh, 3k seems like a healthy shift point, but I cant resisting bringing her up to 8k atleast once everytime I drive

Thanks for the support, guys. I'm doing my best to learn about cars, but it's very hard since I pretty much knew nothing about cars when I first started posting here.

What would be considered too high? I know you have to stay out of the red zone, but is there an in-between/grey area?
