Cheap brake upgrades

I do beleave that you can swap out the old stock civic calipers with a set from Acura Integera plus you can go with the 5x114 mm lugs or go with the 4x100 mm lugs. here is web site i found for such swaps.

The largest you can go on the ex is the late legend/nsx brakes.
Then ITR/Accord Wagon/Prelude vtec.
Both sets require you to use a 5x114mm rotor redrilled to 4x100 AND 2 sets of spacers along w/ extended lugs, to work on the current hub. You could also change to 5lug and skip that step, but it will cost a lot more.
(If you dont want to use spacers, you can shave the caliper down...but I like the idea of wider track)
The smallest upgrade would be from an integra (any minus itr) or abs civic (both are the same size piston). They bolt directly onto the ex knuckle and are bigger in size than the ex/si caliper piston.
Either way, I highly recommend upgrading to a 1" mc and booster from an itr or gsr integra (I have a how-to written up somewhere on here)

Well what's wrong with your stock brakes? If you can lock up your tires with your brakes now they should be fine. Which means your tires suck.
I recommend Brembo Blanks, AEM or Hawk HPS pads, Goodrich stainless steel lines and Valvoline Synpower or Motul brake fluids.

Stoptech makes a kit which includes rotors (I forget the brand), Axxis pads, stainless lines and nicer fluid for about $400 I think. Also, I think you would benefit just from converting your rear drums to disc.

When I put new tires (Yoko ES100) on my car, the stock brakes didn't always lock them (depending on conditions). It was time to replace rotors, so I went with Brembo blanks and PBR Metal Masters... a mild "upgrade" (keeping stock caliper). Now my brakes activate ABS way to quickly.
Point is: maybe you just need higher performance pads.... and that's cheap.

But that is true, unless you are a hardcore racer with brake fade issues I don't see why you would upgrade aside from rear disc.
