first - with tuning compression wont be a problem, just have to be careful and not push the boost level. ive seen a GSR with either 10-11 compression ratio running 15 lbs, its all how you work things. (granted, he was built). not to mention stock GSR compression ratio is 10+ and people turbo those.

just tune, and do things safe and you'll be fine. and running925 is right, it'll be a bit more pleasurable with more compression.

so i may not be so bad afterall. i'm going to look into cometic head gaskets.. just for a lil added thickness.

y7/y8 compression seems to be zero'ing in somewhere around 9:7 - 9:9:1
This can't be right. The Z6 head has a much larger combustion chamber than the Y8, just look at them!

Both the Z6 and Y7 head have the same volume, so a swap would keep the stock 9.6:1 compression ratio. The Y8 has a 9.6:1 as well, but has pistons with a greater dish and quench pads in the head. The mini me would put you up over 10:1 for sure. I think this would work out well, the flow on the Y7 SUCKS. Talk to BauleyCivic over on H-T, he has a mini-me (D15B7/D16Z6) boosted, and he might have some tips for you.

bauley: "Read up on the Y7 and Y8 pistons...the B7 pistons are flat and the Z6 ones are dished, so the B7/Z6 mini me's have a 10:1 ratio. Both the Y7 and Y8 pistons are dished, the Y7's actually having the larger dishes, meaning less compression. A Y7/Y8 mini me will have lower compression than a stock Y8."

 could this be tru?
