You're joking, right? Have you ever seen the numbers of a car with and without a cat? Two of the cat's jobs is to burn up extra HC's and oxidize CO into CO2.

Maybe so, but the numbers without the cat were still super low. I thought the catalyst only accelerates the decomposition of toxic nitrogen oxides?

The turbo car was uberdata tunes, so maybe it was a lil leaner at idle than stock...

you dont need that fitting if you are not going to use a boost controller,
but it is also a good idea to keep it plugged to avoid foreign objects.

The car will not pass emissions as it currently sits. If they do the dyno test with the sniffer, you will fail for a second reason aside from the no cat exhaust. The Wastegate appears to be dumped to the atmosphere. They will fail you for that if they run it hard enough for it to vent.

If it routes back in pre-cat, and you have a cat, it will pass the visual inspection. NoVA incorporates a visual inspection in with the safety inspection... not the emissions test... but you'll need to eventually have both performed, so keep that in mind.

Emissions testing isn't performed in my area, but having no cat will fail you where I live if it's visibly missing, period. Sounds like you need to know a mod-friendly inspection shop. I can't help you there.

I am going to be getting a cat for it. What can I do about the wastegate? How are they usually set up?

To some people looking at the picture, it appears as though the dumptube coming from the wastegate is dumped to the atmosphere. The proper way to do it is to have it plumbed back into the exhaust pipe before the cat so that when the wastegate opens, all the exhaust gasses still go through the cat.

Would I be able to modify it myself? How much trouble would it be to do it the proper way?
