Ok, I was at work today and a driver (lift driver) came up to me and asked if I was the one who has the teal honda, and I said yeah, why... He said he has a 94 Si with a B18A1, he said he just got it from a local yard (u-fix-it Honda), and he said he wants to sell it for $400, just the motor, it has a GSR tranny and all the nice junk, he said its still covered under (u-fix-it Honda) for 6 months, I was only interested in the motor, but then he said he wanted to do a complete swap, everything in my car for everyhting in his, his motor has 41k on it and is rebuilt with stock internals, and he said he ran Nitros, another guy said he drove his car befor and it was nice, what do you think? I thought it was a little fishy so I got his # and told him I would think on it and not to do anything with it... I guess the car must be his track car cuz he said he has time slips and its geared for the strip.

So do you think my D16Z6, Tranny and all the other small stuff is worth trading for a B18A1 with a GSR tranny?

I am going to ask him to drive it to work, (if he can)...

What does everyone think?

 

I say do a complete check over on the car. Theres a reason he's trying to ditch it.

 

you think so too? He asked me if I had a place to do the swap and I told him yeah my uncles garage, and he said it would only take him about 4 hrs per car. He also said if I needed any parts to ask him, cuz he knows some guy (Mr Mechanic) that gets parts from Japan, and he said he can get me stuff for real cheap.....

I duno, I think ill call him tonight and have him drive the car to work so I can look it over.

The only thing I really believe is that D16Z6's around here are very rare, I found 1 and it took me 3 months, and they wanted 1500 for just the motor....

B's in this area are never cheaper than 2500 (just the motor)

 

Yea they always say. Buying cars that are already hooked up is buying unknown problems.

 

??? Wha, im not buying the car, he wants to do a swap, motor for motor (both stock) tranny for tranny (mine is stock his is GSR)...

I gues what I am asking is if the motor and car are in good condition, would you do the trade???

OOOOOOO :doh: i misread. I thought you were buying the car. I suggest you keep your motor. Go with what you know rather then someone elses possible junk

 

Sounds really shadey to me. Why would he ditch a perfectly good B for a D?

If everything checks out, yeah, it's a good deal.

 

Hmm, I talked to another guy who knows the guy that is sellin the motor, and he said his uncle was trying to buy it from him, and I told him he wanted to swap motor and tranny, and he said wow, why would he want a smaller motor? So I need to call him, I guess he cant drive the car to work cuz he has a suspended lisence... I just hope the motor is in good shape, I seen the guy today and he didnt say nothin to me, so yeah, if I dont get the B ill get all my turbo stuff from him, he said he knows a guy...

 

No way, B18A is OBD0/1, only 130 hp. Not worth it for a D16Z6 IMO.
