Thanx dood. Would I need the intake box if i was just to be getting a short ram intake. If that question sounds dum and :ghey: please excuse im kinda dumb at this stuff. So would it be better to buy the $700 longblock and the parts or just go for the whole $2200 swap.

Woo, hold on a minute. You do realize swaping your car to run an Integra automatic transmission is going to involve converting your entire in-car harness to an Integra unit (including everything behind the dash). Someone on this board a while back (a good few years, I don't remember his screen name and don't think he posts anymore) did this swap and he said he'd never do it again even though he did get it to work (his girlfriend wouldn't learn to drive a stick). I believe the automatic's controls are in a seperate ECU and harness from the main engine ECU and the only way to install one in a Civic is to convert everything to the Integra units. To be perfectly honest with you, if you want an automatic Integra engine, go buy an automatic Integra, you'll save having your car down for a few weeks/months while you do all the wiring and you still have hair on your head.

If your car is already an automatic LX and you want to keep it, your best bet is to swap one of the SOHC VTEC engines if you really want a new engine. I'm not sure what year your car is, but the D16Z6 is the '92-'95 SOHC VTEC and the D16Y8 is the '96-'00. Your best bet would be to find a junkyard low milage EX version and swap everything over. I've never done an automatic swap but D-series to D-series shouldn't be that diffucult. Honestly, if your seriously looking for a performance upgrade, and I'm not saying this as a smart arse comment but just cold honest reality, your not going to get very far with an automatic transmission. You'll notice Honda's performance engines (DOHC VTEC B-series basically) were never available with an automatic. Automatics are also limited and in how much abuse they can take from an upgraded engine and the aftermarket support for them is very limited.

the reason everyone is so anti-automatic on this board is because Honda's auto's aren't the greatest thing ever... Especially compared to their standard tranny's...

Read just about any auto mag (ie, car & driver, motortrend), and every comment they'll say about honda's 5-speed is that they are to par with BMW. Shifter feel, feed back, throws, balance, etc.

Most people with higher milage honda auto's have to have them rebuilt. They're not quite the same...

This is beginning to become a pain in the arse. Im just gonna go and find a D16Y8 or a D16Z6 and just swap them over with a new tranny and call it a day. I'll just get a turbo for it. Im just looking for some passing speed on the highway. It seems like as soon as i get on the highway my car has a slow time accelerating as fast as i was use to when i had my 04 cavalier. Any good places on where i can find one of these engines with low mileage online, or is it best just to go graveyard shoppin. When i do find the engine though is there anything specific I need extra to do the swap.

Yea the previous owner of the civic i have now has had her engine rebuilt already. Im just looking to get my car to run like low 13's or high 12's. I dont plan on doing illegal racing in it. Im just looking for a car to have fun with and plan on keeping it for a long time. But if the need for some prick in a 5.0 to come and challenge me or some jerk in a old school lincoln(yes i've been beaten in one of these b4 and it wasnt fun) then i want to be able to if not win at least keep up :chuckles:

you'll have to spend alot of money do get that d-series with an automatic to get into the 13s, let alone the 12s....

if you want to drive that fast with an auto, you're driving the wrong car... Look into a corvette....

I think you'll be lucky to get into 15s with it on a 'normal' budget. Honda's auto's degrade even worse when you're pushing above-stock power. Besides, for what you want (pick-up on the highway), there's no excuse to need a car quicker than 15sec's in the quarter. Take an Accord v6 for example. Those have some good power to them, and they run 15 in the quarter. But they'll get you moving on the highway, thats for sure...

I figure maybe 6-8psi in that car will get you close to 160hp? maybe 170 depending on the turbo kit.

You need to talk to GO4BMX (I think thats his name h: ). He had a turbo attached to his automatic D16y8, but he switched over to 5-speed.... I bet there's a reason why
