Default Stud inside Ball Joint spins when tighten Nut

Hey guy,

I'm having a difficulten trying to tighten up my ball joint. The stud inside keeps spinning when I try to fasten the nut. How do you keep the stud from moving inside? I don't think there is enough clearance to get a pair of plier in to keep the stud from moving. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Put a jack under the control arm and put pressure on it, so the ball joint will act as if it is already set in place. Or try an impact wrench.

I push down on the knuckle/arm to jam the taper of the balljoint into the hole.

Try the above first, if that doesn't work then you may have screwed up some threads.

Well What I do is have someone put pressure on it from the top with there foot so it sets in place. It will tighten right up.

What I did was use a 3" or greater C clamp and clamp down on top of the lower ball joint and LCA. This was enough to stop the stud from turning and I was able to tighten the nut.
