Default b16a2 Worth Building?

I just purchased a 1999 Honda Civic SI. B16A2. I was wondering if its worth putting mods on the engine to increase performance... VS. Swapping it out for a better building block?

Ideas? Suggestions? thanks in advance.

yeah the b16a2 is very good to build...theres so many parts you can get for it like type r pistions and cams, and valvetrain parts from the type r also...all b-series engine parts are interchangable so theres always parts if something breaks...but it comes down to what you want to do and how much power youre going for, turbo would be good option too

i was thinking go with all the minor mods first, I/H/E, then pulleys, other things like that also. Turbo would be a future plan, but not before a complete rebuild, clutch etc.

B16A2's are great if you like revving high. They are worth building, just to be different from everyone else if anything.

B16s are a great platform to work with. You can do everything from a mild i/h/e build to a full out crazy turbo or n/a build with big cams. When it comes to B series, there are almost too many options to choose from.

Plenty of potential.

Like swapping in a B17A1 crank and rod set. :rick:

I used to have a B17A1 shortblock, bought it for $250 shipped to my door.

I sold it for $450 picked up. :chuckles:

(For those who don't know, just the B17A1 crank goes for $200+, with only ~3100 ever made from 92-93)

Anything i should watch out for when building it? Like too high rpm's?

Im just curious, i have never done a Bseries motor, i figure its best to ask all the questions first, so i don't f it up later.

I will post some pics later.
