3) They cost money, when you already have a perfectly good set of lights.
4) They take a weird bulb not readily availible in the states.
5) They're plastic.

Im gonna play devil's advocate:

1. Corners have amber sleeve that reflects amber when signaling like stock USDM

2. City lights are like USDM parking lights. Useless

3. Used set runs about avg. 80-100 dollars (going price). Like I said before, lighting is IMO better b/c it projects a blanket of even light on the road instead of 2 hotspots

4. H4h bulbs are readily availible at a lot of online shops for the same price as normal bulbs.

5. Glass is heavier and clumsier. The plastic is just as durable.

But, that's only when signalling a turn. Normal operation isn't so bad until you burn out a headlight... then you look like a motorcycle. Not a favorable condition.

Fair enough.

I've been behind both and can't say the 'blanket' effect is worth $100. Stock 5G headlights don't put out much light in the first place.
4. H4h bulbs are readily availible at a lot of online shops for the same price as normal bulbs.
Sure, but just like anything else online you still have to wait for them to be shipped. If you are out of town, you're SOL until you get home, order them, and still have another week to wait.

Plastic turns yellow with age and is prone to cracking. Not my idea of durable.

1. That is only if you wire them up to JDM spec. If you just plug and play, the lights look exactly the same at night as the US spec.

2. :chuckles:

3. I've been through 3 different sets of lights:

a. stock USDM - better than projectors, not as good as JDM lamps.
b. aftermarket projectors - sucked ass due to the foglight H3 bulbs for low beams
c. JDM headlamps - IMHO is the best setup since the lighting is even and overall brightest of all 3 setups I used.

4. A lot of businesses that carry such bulbs (JHPUSA, Options Auto Salon, InlineFour, AJ-Racing, etc. etc.) usually ship out same day and offer faster delivery options.

5. Turning yellow yes, only if they were not taken care of. Easy solution is wetsanding and polishing compound. Restores the plastic to new condition ( I can show you pictures of mine) Even then, 90% of these that get imported by shipping containers dont need restoration. Just a good bath, and they look like new. I've dealt with a lot of JDM lights, none of them cracked, even the decade or more older ones such as the EF (88-91) and EG (92-95). All in great condition unless damaged from impact in collision from Japan or shipping. No leakage problems whatsoever and no cracks, even after 15 years. It might be b/c of the Japanese quality :dunno: ...I cant say the same for the older USDM plastic lights found on the domestic cars.

I used to hear of the JDM one peice units for 89-92 (US 90-93) Integras cracking and yellowing all the time, and that was a few years ago when I still owned one. :dunno:

probably the owners didnt take care of them. they were totally restorable. believe it or not, my friend's headlamps pictured below were clouded and had a nasty yellow texture of scratches on it.

mine pictured below with city lights on were also covered with fine scratches before... (not as bad as my friend's)

1. they fit better mimickin the 1-piece look.
2. EVEN blanket of light on the road, the usdm gives u two hot spots.
3. when adjust the headlamps, only the inside moves, thus ur headlamp still stay still and looks even with ur corners, usdm headlamp move as a whole, thus most of the time, ppl having horrible gaps.
4. lighter and no nipples for a clean look.
5. cost is very well priced, got mines for 90 bukks.
6. city light is useless but looks kewl.
7. its jdm so that means its really kewl.

wait...you can adjust the lights without having to move the entire assembly? that would be awesome...I can never get mine to look right and at the same time put out the beam pattern I want.

for h4h housing on the jdm headlamps, i have seen ppl use a d2r bulb, cuttin the base off and fittin it in and securing it down with a new clip. at the same you have to fabricate a shield for a good cut off. on htech, some guy fab a set of d2r hids in his DA integra one piece headlamps which uses h4h. im plannin to go that route as well. seens to be the only thing that would work otherwise, have fun locating a h4h hid system for a reasonable price.
