Turbo EX or JDM B16???
okay...i've heard way too many different conflicting things about motor swaps and turbos. what i would like is a daily drivable car that's quick and relatively reliable. also, i'd like to spend around $4k-$5k total this time around. A bunch of people tell me to just get a new motor, but my mechanic tells me to just put a turbo on my car and turn up the boost. then i did some research, and found that a turbo ex is not much faster than a stock si (unless the motor is fully built). he also said that if i swap the motor it could be a problem for emissions(vins dont match) and that i could run higher boost on my sohc than a dohc. any thoughts???

boost
if i put a turbo on tho, the most boost i could safely put on an ex motor is like...6 or 7 lbs...i'd prolly want to at least replace the gaskets/bearings/pistons
i have 75k miles on it
if i boost i'd wanna get the turbotimer, boost controller, intercooler, and a nice bov...with the boost controller i'd probably be tempted to turn the boost way up, so i'd wanna be sure i could take it

This is an ongoing argument: turbo or swap? I like turbos so I am biased. I stuck with the SOHC for bragging rights. If I swapped in a motor LEGALLY, then it'd cost me at least $3000 for a B16a and even more for a B18c1. Remember I have a 2000 EX.
Quit asking 'virtual' people and ask yourself: "Do I want a better foundation for modifications, or do I want to have a quick SOHC?" My SOHC is tight, I like it. Sooooooo many of my friends said I should have swapped, but wait until I hit the track.
