Default Civic to EL conversion...

Has anybody attempted this before? I have the opportunity to get my hands on a wrecked Civic (it runs, but body looks like ass) sedan and since the EL is a Canada-only model, is it going to be impossible to get the parts I need to do this conversion, providing it can be done?

This is in reference to the hood/fenders/headlights/bumper. I'm sure the tail lights are a whole other beast.

Its built on a civic so the parts bolt right up. getting them however is another issue. the best offer I have is 1500 for a hood, fenders, lights, and bumper. Thats from a guy up in canada and the parts are used. For the tail lights you need to replace the entire trunk lid, Im not too fond of those tails though.

Sounds like an expensive idea that I had.

Talk to 18secferio about it....he was looking into EL conversions for a while, so he would probably have a good idea on the cost of the parts

Sounds like an interesting conversion. I'll have to look into it more.

yeah, shipping costs is what killed the idea for me.

parts is one thing. Shipping headlamps, fenders, a hood, a trunklid, a front bumper, and maybe a lip, is another thing.

total, you're looking at a good $3-$4k

not worth it. I've seen one el in person, and it wasn't all that. I'd get the trunk lid, maybe, but nah.... I don't drive an el

there are some sites that sell the conversion online. its commonly called the honda domani coversion. look it up on google and I'm sure you'll find a couple. I was planning on doin this for a while to my coupe, but the price for the whole metal kit was anywhere from 2000-3000, and thats a little out of my college budget.
