Default cv boot gone bad, is this a common problem

my right drive axle boot split down the middle on my 95 DX hatch. i had the same thing happen on my crx. but never have i seen it happen so often on other cars only with my civic and crx. whats the deal. are they just poor quality or is it common when a vehichle is lowered.

Busting a boot is not big deal, just dont drive on it for too long :nono: than your gonna have to replace the axle. I've already had to replace my CV boots twice.... which reminds me I have to replace another one.

**its a different boot every time you cacs, before you start bashing**

The boot kit which includes the boot, seals, and grease cost $7. I dont know if thats what itll cost around there. Its a pretty easy job, and getting the axle out from the tranny, but getting it out from the outside (control arm or something :dunno: )

You do put more stress on the joints when it's lowered too much or raised too much. If there is any grease left in the boot then you can go ahead and reboot. If you check inside and there is no grease left, you might as well replace the axle. It's not too difficult, plenty of how-to's if you search thru H-A. The boot kit comes with grease..and I'm not sure if you have to take the axle out to reboot..because I never done it, but most likely you don't have to....it would be a good idea maybe.

yeah this is a very common problem, I had to change my right cv boot on my civic when I first got it. But do not get the cheap on or else you will find yourself in the same dilemma as you are in right now. but as said earler, dont drive it too long w/out changing it. Or else you will really hate yourself.
