If Honda really cares about retaining its image as a performance brand, they'd start making USDM cars as powerful as the JDM ones. What the hell is so hard about bringing a 220 hp Civic Type R (both 3 and 5 door hatchback versions) to the United States? Why do customers on the other side of the world get to have all that power and we don't?

I thought they were considering bringing the CTR over for '05?

There has been no confirmation of this rumor one way or another, however I seriously doubt that honda wants a CTR that is going to compete with the RSX-S

Well I remember reading somewhere that a few reasons why, say the Civic Type R, has such a hard time coming over here is because the car market in the US is one of the most competitive in the world. This is also the same case as to why the JDM models get all those cool options and accessories that do not come equipped on stock USDM versions.

Honda wants its stuff to be cheap and economical so that it can still compete with other small, economical cars. At least this is what I've heard.

Oh, and this is interesting. Honda makes factory turbo-charged mini-vans! I think they're called Life Dunks. Scary.

it would be diff class tho... if hondas smart it would be like the evo, with the 4 doors and awd. if they could make it awd, 4door and in the 22k area, wit awd, and a turbo it would be considered. little bit more than the fwd neon, and less than evo and wrx.

styling would be a big part tho. i mean i dont kno one person who likes the new si look.

I think the CTR would be in a different catagory then the RSX-S. It is a dinky little hatchback, afterall, plus the Civic Si isn't selling that great. I think a limited importation of the CTR would sell well, and inspire Honda to start bringing them in. The Integra Type-R of years past just flew off the dealer's lots as soon as they arrived.

true but hondais a big corporation, they probably put millions in their coe's pockets to take a break from their job. millions are nothing to big corporations. honda's goal is economy and durability/longevity for the motor. honda was never a performance car till mugen came along. honda dumps hundreds of trillions into creating a economy car with longevity where as they put millions into f1 motors. think about it
