I know Me and a friend of mine painted his del sol and it's really funny how much the paint and materials cost compared to actually having it done "professionally". Maaco, in my opinion, shouldn't even be a paint shop. They do half-assed paint jobs that aren't even worthy of recognition. I'd rather go to wal-mart and buy those $.99 cans of paint and get a better job than they do. If you can't paint the car yourself, Sometimes it's better to save up the $1500.00 to get the job done right.

I don't mean to jack your thread, but I got my car painted by a friend. The front bumper is chipping like a mother, any idea what I can do to stop it from chipping?

thats what I'm saying, I got one, and its painted but it is chipping a fair amount, and it needs to stop. Is there any way I can spray something on there to prevent this from happening.

pshhhhh my front bumber looks like the surface of the moon, along with the windsheild. My plastic parts are ok, not to faded, but there is a couple of spots on the trunk and hood, and one real bad one on the roof, that i guess it has been oxidized and you can see past the blue color

Odds are your friend either forgot to add a flexing agent to the paint, or he just didn't add the right amount. The agent (I forget the proper name/term) helps the paint be more flexible and forgiving, and doesn't chip as easy.

yeah. like soltaker said, most people use flex agents in there paint for on bumpers or parts that might move.
