Posted: Tue Feb 10, 2004 9:08 pm Post subject: Car thieves from TurboForum.net - Rumors & Facts

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the deal, I will post up the rumors, you guys can keep it going or post up the facts.

To the 2 people involved with this, do not take offense to anything I say. My phone has been ringing and my AOL IM has been getting messages and my e-mail has gotten out of hand about this, so I am going to just post what I have heard and be done with it.

Rumor has it:
-2 members of this forum have been arrested for auto theft
-This happened on Saturday
-1 of them posted bail
-1 of the members MOM had him turn himself in
-They confessed to stealing 3 Civics
-snobuny08's car was NOT one of the confessed ones

Fact:
-1 of them IS in jail right now. Confirmed by a call to Lancaster County Prison.
-The 2 members in question are 99CivicSiBrian & JDMdelsol

Other rumors ...
-JDMdelsol is changing his name to JDMdelstole
-99CivicSiBrian is better known as 99CivicSittinginJailBrian (of GLocked-Up Performance)

If you guys have anything else to contribute, feel free

I would like to that the member that pm'd me the link for letting me know noone wants a dude like this coming to meets reading about our mods and just socializing with our "club"
This Brian drove a teal green 5th Gen Civic Coupe and his friend had a turboed metallic bronze Del Sol. Now it makes me wonder if someone really broke into his car and stole it and ended up about 40 miles north in Reading. Keep an eye out guys!

There's some dumbass here in town (kid) that I've done work for on his car and a guy I know came up to me and said he talked to the kid at the track last week. The kid didn't know that I knew the guy and said something about me having like $30K in my car and wondered if he knew me - being a dumbass teenager and trying to be cool by association.

That fockin' pissed me off cause he doesn't know this guy from Adam and he's telling him about a car with $30k worth of parts in it. Talk about making me a target.

My non running civic has been parked for a couple months now.

Yesterday I rented a dolly to tow it to another location for storage, and to my surprise, the cover of the steering column was ripped off, some ignition components were unscrewed, and the aluminum that holds everything together was all busted up.

You'd think the car sitting for months not moving, and the tools on the drivers seat, and the parts of the car like the starter sitting on the floor would be a dead giveaway that the freaking thing didn't run.

Moral of the story, F*** car theives. Most of them are morons anyway, eventually, they get caught. :sqfawk:

Just be careful what you post and stating where you are located.
I think twice about uploading pics of my car nowadays, been victim of not only attempted car theft, but even picture theft.

My car has attempted to been broken into 4 times and I live in a nice area. The last time, they caught one of the guys that was with this group which had already stolen 3 cars before they attempted to get mine that night. It turns out that they were from New York and drove into Jersey looking for cars in nice neighborhood parking lots. Its like a shopping spree for them

I try to look out for you guys. I had my car broke into once and that was the last time. Especially driving one of the highest stolen cars in the US right now I'm paranoid where ever i go.

And to think I knew these two. I'm glad I found out now instead of later.

I wouldn't know what to do if someone stole my car I hate to leave my car outside anywhere for more than an hour because I know someone will steal it.

there's reasons I pay for theft insurance

I mean, come on... we drive civics.... Nothing says "break into me" quite like a non-stock civic.....
