Drag 3 GSR swap or 240 DET swap
Hey guys, i have a 00 ex 5spd with i/h/e/55 shot and i'm on my 3rd tranny in under 40K miles and am sick of it. I have some money and i'm debating whether to keep my civic and do a GSR/Drag 3 swap or pick up a S13 and do a DET swap. I can probably pull off the turbo gsr swap for under 5 and the 240sx DET swap for around 6. The civic already has a decent leather interior/stereo/suspension/wheels. I can't make up my mind so i thought i'd see what your opinions were.

haha i see i'm getting some nice unbiased honda responses I guess i still have to do some research on the swap. From what i read i should be able to pickup the car for less than 2500 and the swap for 1700. But...all the cars out there are 3000+ from what i've seen and the swap is more like 4K installed because you need a ecu, downpipe, etc etc.

Well, heres an unbiased nissan response :chuckles:. I say get the 240sx. The 91-93 is prolly what you would want, unless you are really into the s14, but if not, the 91-93 and the sr have an identical harness. For the 89-90, you have to do a little more wiring work, but if the price is right, go for it. As far as cost, for the money you would spend on a b18c and a drag kit, you could get a sr, ccc manifold and a t3/t4 turbo. But, you would have to buy the 240 in the first place, which would be ~$1500 for a 240 on its last legs. Hmmm. Have you considered the ka24det [turboed 240 engine]? The engine is good for 350 hp on stock internals with the right tuning. If youve ever seen a dynograph for a ka24det, wether it be low boost or high boost, it will always be very close to linear, due to the "truckish" nature of the engine. I guess its up to you man, do you like your car enough to stick with it, or do you want to fight conformity and try something completely different?

Well i thought about it and made up my mind....i'm gonna stay honda. The 240's around here are all at least 2000+ for a decent one, then the swap is like 2000 plus all the other stuff you need and install which adds up to 4000. I sell si and gsr motors so i can get them at a good price and i sell drag 3 turbos so i can get those at a good price too so i think we have a winner! Thanks for all your replies....By the way, how much boost do you think a stock GSR could take with a t3/t4

not in the nissan stuff.
i'd go for gsr turbo.
faster.....
nissan do have potential like any other car.
