Well, I may do a swap down the road, the engine only has 118k on it and runs like a champ. I wanted to put a h22 prelude engine in it one day, I had one and liked it alot, DOHC does alot for the little 4 banger. But for now I want to fix this one up.

Many of you said replace the timing belt and check the radiator and replace the water pump. I will do that thats cheap and easy. But I want to know what I can do for under 500$ to make my engine perform better. ? As far as intake and exhaust goes and internal engine parts like lifters/cam/all the way down to the type of oil. I want to know what is the best for this engine and what to watch out for. Hope u can help.

I think your best bet for $500 to make your stock engine perform better would probably be a aftermarket cam. :dunno:

Default cheater?

I know I might get flamed for this, being a noob, but I would definitely not call it cheating. What I mean is, wouldn't anything you do to your car performance-wise be called cheating then? Wouldn't a turbo be called cheating (or would guys with turbos using nitrous be called "Double Cheaters")? Wouldn't using racing gas be called cheating? To call it cheating doesn't make any sense . Not to sound like an ass, but please enlighten me if I'm wrong.
