Default Exhaust manifold question..

Recently I had a 98 D16y7 Engine, with an aftermarket DC 4-2-1 ceramic header. When my engine blew (bent rod), I replaced my engine with the same one but a 99, the header easily bolted on. Well a few days ago i noticed my downpipe is cracked to hell...
In order to fix this problem I had to either order a new downpipe or get another header....It's the holidays and low on cash i decided to get a complete exhaust manifold from an D16y8 but im not sure of the year, would it still fit on my engine?

All D series stuff can fit on my D series engine right? Sorry for the n00b question..

I believe it's D16y8...but im not sure...it doesn't have a CAT on the manifold so i definatly know it's from an EX and it's real clean...so i'm guessing it's fairly new towards the 6th Gen... There's no dipstick where the heatshield is so i think it might be a 6th....I'll find out when i go get it installed tomorrow...Thanks for the help "TheGuy"

I thought header was the complete exhaust manifold and downpipe assembly? exhaust manifold was just the upper pipping that connects to the engine...i dunno I kept saying header at the dealership and junkyard and people looked at me like i was crazy...

Right idea, wrong answer.. sorry.

The D16Y7 manifold has the cat in the middle of the mani. It looks like a big coffee can with the secondary O2 plugged in right there. The D16Y8 mani is straight through like the DC 4-2-1 2 piece design with the cat after the mani.

You can't interchange the D16Y7 manifold with the D16Y8 manifold without doing some rewiring for the positioning of the secondary O2 sensor and using the mani-after cat. h:

So, did you use an aftermarket cat when you went to the DC header? You would either have to use an aftermarket cat or an OEM EX cat.

DC doesn't make a straight header replacement for the 6th gen LX... http://www.dcsports.com/pricesheader.htm
