The TDI is probably the slowest one. You're thinking of the 1.8T or the VR6 that have great pull. I raced a 02 GTi 1.8T with a chip/intake/full exhaust on the bottle and it was pretty close.

shockwave this is the last time I'm replying. you said it yourself
4000 to 5000
+ 3500
___________
approximately $8000
you wouldn't even necessarily want a gsr for the swap in the first place. b18b and b20z don't cost 3500. and don't call me kid. wtf? how old are you anyway. makes you sound pretty dumb man. in the end you have your opinion and I have mine. then I see you want to buy a hatch? I just don't get it.

i think that a camaro, trans am, or stang with minor mods [i/e/ecu] would be far more reliable than an all out turbo civic. Turbos dont last forever. V8s, or any engine for that matter, will last a long time with basic bolt ons. our 76 chevelle malibu [me and my bro's] is lightly modded and runs 14s. The total cost of everything we spent on that car was around $3000. Sure it took alot of work to piece everything together, but it was like a learning experience anyways, and that car has been running for 2 years with no probs at all. The gas mileage sux, but we only spent 3000 on the car so we cant complain. Its been daily driven in the rain, sleet, snow and hail and still no probs. I disagree with the people who are saying that the domestic iron v8s aren't reliable. Think, who is better at maintaining a car, a guy who bought a civic, swapped a b18c/b20vtec/h22/or a similar engine in there, and turboed it himself, and saved money by doing the wrenching himself, or a guy that dropped 20-something thou on a domestic v8 and had the shop put some flowmasters, etc on his car for him.
oh yea, and skubb, telling people to lick balls or whatever and get out of the civic forum isnt nice:nono:

Stock gt vs stock civic is no comparison. The gt has more power will last as long as the stock civc if both are kept the same. Any engine as long as its not raced and well maintained will last long.
It all basicly comes down to how you take care of your car. Obviously a stock civic that races all the time won't last last as long as a stock civic used as a economy car.
I have a 98 civic and my dad has a 00 gt. We both drive like old ladies just so we don't have to buy cars for another 10 years or so. I haven't raced my car since April cause I'm not about this attitude with showing off money. So in that sence my stock civic will last long. My dad does the same with his car. The main diffrence between our cars besides the price/power/gas etc etc is that the mustang has more of a safty factor then the civic. Obviously when you put in lighter this and that or gut things out then the safty factor goes down. I would be scared if i got in a crash with my civic. 5 grand diffrence in price though.
The best thing to do is use 1 car for daily driving and 1 car to race. Why use the race car for daily driving when your just wasting gas and may possibly get in a crash loosing your whole investment.
I would get a used 85 mustang which is about the same size as a civic itself and almost as light and put a LARGE v8 and modd/race. I'm more into saving my money instead but, if I were to race then I would do that.
I have to throw in this joke that was on the "Killed" thread that I still can't stop laughing from.
