i'm actually in the habit of rev-matching and double clutching all my downshifts. my old 88 jetta liked it, and i just got used to driving that way. it's kind of a moot point on most newer cars, but hey, what the hell.

You only need to double clutch in older cars and semi trucks. You watch too much Fast and Furious.

pedal carriage? So you broke a pedal? I thought I was the only one who ever did that.

nope. my clutch pedal fell off while i was driving. that was fun. i hose-clamped it to the brake pedal just so i could barely start from a stop. i rev-matched clutchless shifting all the way home, and coasted through the parking lot of my complex, made a u turn right into my spot. wild ride.
