thinking about buying/ reading it. any good? any other suggestions ?

check out our sponser www.cartechbooks.com they have a few books on honda performance. a little outdated but a good stepping stone for a n00bie like yourself.

sport compact car is good...but i wouldnt believe everything in it. some of it is biased and are used to help promote the products that keep their presses running. good source of into is your local track events and online forums. PEOPLE who actually TUNE and WORK and RACE their cars

The ricer mags do have some good info, but doood is right. They are biased in order to keep on paying the bills and such. I'd get a book that wasn't sponsored by anybody. Chances of getting unbiased info from that would be higher.
