I was thinging of getting some black housing projectors and running HIDs on them. I still want to keep my high and low beams so I was thinking of having 4300k for the low beam and 6000k for the high beam. Is this a good idea? or should I just stick with 4300k on my low beams only?

Also what K should I use I want the output to match that of the S2000's HIDs

 

Hey man if you get this to work! Let me know! I've been wanting to put HIDs in my projectors for the longest!! I dont know anyone who has put H3 HIDs in their projectors though h:

 

i dont think you should put hids on your highbeams ... cause you rarely use it just a waste of money ... and also i heard phillips mad hids for the h3 bulb soo hope that helps

the problem with placing HID's in aftermarket projector's is that the housing may melt from the heat. They would sometimes even melt from just a higher wattage bulb. From personal experience I can tell you that no matter how much higher the wattage on the bulb is for the projector beam is, it doesn't change the fact that they are dim.

I think if you are gonna go with an HID kit, just place it on your stock headlights. Nothing can beat the quality of OEM.

 

why do I always notice the COMPETELY WRONG POSTS?!?! do you guys do this on purpose or something? HIDs don't run as hot, NOR do they take as much power. HIDs would be sweet in a projector..... BUT i would suggest slightly modding the cut off plate inside so you get more light output

 

I was told on Honda-Tech that yopu want to use a projector so you get even better light out put. I also read that Asiandoood had HID in a set of projects and they melted but this is becuase they where not aimed correctly.

Does anyone know what K the S2000 HID uses?

 

Here are the facts people:

ALL OEM HID headlights are 4300K. The difference in color you see between different manufacturers comes from the optics of the housing. All these 6000K, 8000K, etc. kits are purely for cosmetic purposes only. If you want that you might as well not waste your money and just buy some ghey blue halogen bulbs instead.

Projectors that use H3 bulbs suck because of the transverse (sideways) filament in H3 bulbs. H3 bulbs themselves have a crappy beam pattern.

HID capsules inside an aftermarket Civic projector housing will NOT melt anything, as it only draws 35W, compared to 55 or more for H3's. Add to that the fact that the light is generated by an arc of current, instead of by heating a filament.

I cannot say what the beam pattern and output would be like for a xenon capsule made to replace an H3 bulb, inside a projector housing. If the capsule was designed correctly with the arc the correct distance back from the cutoff shield, the beam pattern might actually be better than with halogen H3 bulbs, but who knows if engineers who made these capsules took the time to do this.

If you really want the BEST light output, you will need to hack open a set of projectors and try to retrofit in something like Audi S4 HID projectors. That's probably big $$$$ though.
