theftages part ][][
well, from what we could figure....
they went in through the grille. Pulled the hood release cable. Undid the battery, thus disabling the alarm.
but then they had to get in the car.
The drivers door handle received quite a beating. Looks like about 5 attempts at trying to pick the lock (unsuccessful), and then three attempts to pry the door handle (also unsuccessful, unless you could count the fact that they screwed up A) the lock B) the handle and C) the door).
they must've gotten bored with that, because then they went to the driver side c-pillar window on the rear door, tried to pry it, and again, no success. So they just bashed it in. Finally, success.
They would have had easier access if I left the door locks in on the front doors. I figured the back locks wouldn't budge if the alarm was set (when the car's on, you can't unlock them). But while the officer was writting the police report, we (I) relized the back locks easily go up h: So I removed them, as well.
total, a little over $1000 in physical damages.
other losses were my clarion cd player, front stage (they didn't take the tweets, but they took the bottom speakers ), jl audio amp, and a leather jacket.
~$1100 in stereo, but the jacket is covered by homeowners insurance, so thats probably gone.
fun facts:
- despite the theft, my wallet, which was sitting in the center coin trey (under the ebrake) was untouched. Credit cards, license, insurance card, and $28. Dumbasses....
- thank God for theft coverage. Too bad insurance companys are jack-offs who, despite how much you give them, when they do need to pay out, they're even bigger money pinchers (edited by bumnah for obvious reasons).
- regardless of the last point, I don't really care too much about everything. It's all already done with, and the car's already in the shop.
- rental bitch is an s10 pickup. Wow, they're big. No they're not, but I've never driven anything that size. weirdness....
Say all you want. Rub it in my face about the centercap thread and karma. Whatever.....

I know how it is to have some assholes bash in your window and take your equipment. I've lost over $1500 in stereo equipment myself in a double break-in. Hope everything works out like u want and ya car gets back to normal soon.
